Cultural Change

McDonalds was looking to radically change the working culture within its restaurants. Wanting to explore the issues surrounding communication and feedback in an open and honest environment, the HR team invited Purple Monster to design a challenging and provocative programme to achieve this.

  • To act as a catalyst for change in management culture and communication.
  • To encourage open and honest feedback up and down the management chain.

We devised an Industrial Forum, including performance and workshop sessions, that were rolled out across the region in a very short timescale. This included scripted scenes of topical management issues alongside a theatre presentation of verbatim material.
The attendance and participation from Restaurant Managers was phenomenal, and the resulting ideas generated from the Forums were introduced across the region.

As a catalyst for change, the Forum Summit was introduced to resolve the avalanche of ideas from the participating managers. Senior managers have shown their willingness to accept feedback by agreeing to implement the top seven ideas and make the whole process transparent through the company intranet. One idea involves an anonymous contact system to raise difficult issues.

Industrial Forum provided my managers with an extremely challenging, stimulating and thought-provoking day. Normal methods of presentation have never produced a fraction of the discussion, passion and huge number of practical solutions to real business problems that we achieved through this media. It was a huge success as a catalyst to opening up honest communication and dialogue across the ranks of management and departments
